To explain my reasons for signing up to and using different bookmakers can be described best by this copy of a post that I wrote on February the 25th on my other blog called Edgehunters
‘The single most important action I believe we can take today to improve our edge’.
One point that has become obvious to me in the few days that I have been reviewing the Winning a Fortune blog tips is that in the past I have given part of my edge away on numerous occasions.
The point in question highlights my laziness and lack professional approach in the past.
Well what is this heinous crime against my betting bank you may be wondering?
The crime in question is NOT SHOPPING AROUND FOR THE BEST PRICES.
Oh that old nutmeg you may be thinking and I agree, nearly every betting book or guru tells us that we should be shopping around, but I think that the majority of punters are like I was and can’t be bothered!
These same punters, me included, will spend a fortune on products and god knows how many hours finding, testing and refining methods, all in an attempt to gain what will probably be a small but significant edge.
Then like me they will give part or all of that hard earned edge away because they can’t be bothered to shop around!
I think that there are numerous reasons for this sort of behaviour but I have not got the time to go through these in detail today( I will dedicate a full post on the subject soon) and I do not want to dilute the message I am trying to get over .
My belief is that all of us that want to become full time professional sports investors should make it our highest priority to sign up with as many bookmakers as we possibly can, this will in turn give us the highest chance of getting the best price available for our bets.
There may be some people reading this post who will say that it is just me trying to drum up some trade for my other blog The Free Bets Report. Well my answer to them would be that the free bets report is still under construction and only has 3 bookmakers on its books at the moment ( that will increase) and I am advising that we sign up to a lot more than that from now.
My point is that with this blog I am trying to help myself and others gain an edge in the sports investing markets and I believe that the first and biggest step we can take towards that goal is to make sure we always get the best possible price on our bets; it is as simple as that.

A bookmakers free bet is a bet that is offered by the bookmaker to induce customers or potential customers to take a certain action that the bookmaker wants them to take. The most common free bet offer is the one that is offered by a bookmaker to get a customer to sign up with them. These sign up bonuses can range from a £5 free bet up to £1000 plus.
Bookmakers will also from time to time offer free bets as incentives to their customers who are already signed up with them.
The free bet advert picture at the top left hand side of this post is for a Paddypower sign up offer. The offer says open an account with them and bet £10 and Paddypower will give you a free bet to the value of £20.
How does the free bet work?
Well as I explained above, Paddypower are offering a free bet of £20 if you open an account and deposit and bet £10.
There is a little more to it than there seems at first though, because most bookmakers have terms and conditions for their free bet offers. Here are the terms and conditions for the Paddy power free bet offer above:
| Free Bet offer Terms and Conditions | |
| Valid for new customers only. | |
| Place a single bet of £10 and receive another £20 bet. | |
| Free Bet stake not included in returns. The potential returns on Bet Slip and Bet Receipt indicate returns with stake. | |
| Not valid for multiples. | |
| One free bet per customer. | |
| Free bet valid for paddypower.com sportsbook only. | |
| Not valid for casino , lotteries, games or poker. | |
| Free bet valid for 60 days. | |
| To redeem free bet – make your next betting selection, your free bet will appear on your betting slip. | |
| Qualifying bet must be placed at odds of 1/2 or greater, this also applies for combined odds on multiples | |
| Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other new account offer | |
| Free bets cannot be combined with other bets on the same market, in the event of this occurring we reserve the right to void all winnings | |
| If any of the terms are breached or there is evidence that customers are using free bets or other promotional offers to guarantee profits regardless of the outcome we reserve the right to void free bets or any bets funded by bonuses | |
| Due to abuse the following countries are excluded from Free Bet promotions: Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, Latvia, Portugal. | |
| Due to the abuse of free bet promotions, customers using Moneybookers or Netteller to deposit will not qualify for this free bet offer | |
As you can see from the terms and conditions there are certain criteria that you must meet to qualify for the free bet.
What is the Catch?
Well as long as you fulfill all of the terms and conditions there is no catch and the free bets can have a very positive effect on your betting bank.

Wishing you good luck

My name is Mark Johnson I am 47 years old and live in Leicestershire. I work full time in the transport industry but also have a passion for making money from sports betting/trading.
As well as this blog I have also created a sister blog Edgehunters. The Edgehunters site is my dedicated gambling (I prefer to call it sports investing ) site where I test review and use different methods, systems, tools, angles and tipsters to gain an edge in the sports betting markets.
Over the last few years there has been a massive increase in the number of bookmakers and casinos online, this has lead to very intense competition between them to sign up and keep their customers. One of the main tools that both the bookmakers and casinos use to attract and keep customers is to offer free bets as sign up bonuses and also as ongoing incentives.
Another area where bookmakers compete is in the prices (odds) they offer for different bets. The prices between bookmakers can vary by up to twenty percent.
There are numerous sources on line where we can find information about the different bookmakers, casinos etc. but it takes a lot of time to research and find the best resources available.
So to that end I have decided to create this blog as a central resource for myself and my readers to use for reviewing the different bookmakers and casinos and also for everything relating to the best bookmakers, casinos free bets and other offers.
I will also share related news and information that I think will be of interest or that is just plain good fun.
Trust and Transparency will be the bywords for my blog which means that I will endeavor to give a true and honest appraisal with regards to bookmakers, casinos, services or products that I review, so if a service or product has shortcomings or is in my opinion of no benefit I will say so.
My Full Disclosure Policy
“I will use affiliate links for the bookmaker’s offers and other services or products that I recommend on this site as I think that I will deserve to earn the affiliate fees for the value that I provide in identifying the best offers and services for my blogs readers.
If you do not want me to earn an affiliate fee for the bookmaker, service or product that I recommend that will be fine. All that you will need to do is Google the name of the bookmaker, service or product and you will be able to purchase it that way.”
I am new to blogging and on a steep learning curve so this blog is a work in progress which no doubt will change over time as I learn how to make it more reader friendly.
Please feel free to give your input whether it is positive or negative.
Thanks for reading this far
Good Luck.
